Total time: 35 minutes
This baked meatball recipe is just what you need to take your everyday meatballs from boring to brilliant. It’s a great way to season meat and potatoes and serve them in a fresh new way that will not only impress your guests but also keep them coming back for more. And it’s also very easy to prepare! You just need ground meat, eggs, olive oil, seasonings, cheese and, of course, potatoes. Form small meatballs and arrange them between the slices of cooked potato. Drizzle with a drizzle of oil, season and bake. So easy. It’s a complete meal on one plate!
Variations of baked meatballs
For an Italian version, add fresh herbs like basil and oregano to the meatball mixture. Assemble the baking dish and season with tomato sauce and parmesan before baking.
For a sweet and sour flavor, garnish with sweet chili sauce and a pinch of vinegar.
If you prefer more sweetness, you can spread your favorite BBQ sauce (or ketchup) on the meatballs before placing them in the oven.
Suggestions
To get meatballs of the same size, use an ice cream scoop.
If you use frozen meatballs, you will need to increase the cooking time.
To get juicy meatballs, do not overmix the ground meat and seasonings. This will result in tough meatballs. Mix until you obtain a homogeneous mixture.
You can also use ground turkey and chicken in place of the beef.
The meatballs will be ready when the internal temperature reaches 165°C.
How to store baked meatballs
Store them in an airtight container (in the refrigerator) for up to 3 days.
Can I prepare baked meatballs with the Airfryer?
Fit the baking dish in an 8-inch baking dish (or any pan that fits your Airfryer model) and grease it with oil. Cook for 20 minutes at 180°C/350°F.
Can I do it in advance?
Thanks to the potatoes, it is best to serve this dish immediately after taking it out of the oven.
What to serve with baked meatballs
This baked meatball dish is a meal in itself. If you want you can serve it with a green salad and some fresh sandwiches.
